A wood-fired kitchen on the ground floor of an old Ancoats mill.
We cook almost everything in one big brick kiln: Cheshire beef, Morecambe Bay fish, and whatever our growers in Sale have picked that week. The menu is short and changes most Wednesdays.

Forty seats under the old cast-iron columns.
The mill was built in 1820-something for cotton doubling. We kept the brick, the columns and the slightly wonky floor. Long tables seat up to fourteen, and the counter puts you about two metres from the fire, so dress for warmth.
Booking
Tables for up to six can be booked online, up to eight weeks ahead. For anything bigger, ring or email and we’ll sort it out.

Questions we get asked
Can you handle allergies?
Tell us when you book and again at the table. Most dishes can be made without gluten or dairy, but everything is cooked in one small kitchen with nuts and sesame around, so we can’t promise no traces.
Is there a vegetarian menu?
There are always two or three vegetarian plates and one vegan main. On Sundays the roast has a celeriac version.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes. The eight counter seats facing the kiln are kept for walk-ins every night. Fridays and Saturdays fill up by about 7.
Are children and dogs welcome?
Children are welcome until 8pm and we have high chairs. Dogs are fine in the bar area by the door.
Is it accessible?
We’re on the ground floor with level access from the canal side and an accessible toilet. The counter seats are high stools; ask for a table if that’s easier.
